Jeremiah 4:14 meaning and explanation
Wash the evil from your heart, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts within you?
Jeremiah 4:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah has just described an invader sweeping down like clouds and whirlwind (verses 13 and 16), and now the LORD turns from warning to pleading. The command is addressed to Jerusalem, the city that carries God's name, and it goes past outward ritual to the heart, the inner seat of thought and will.
