Jeremiah has just delivered God's word forbidding the survivors of Jerusalem's fall from fleeing to Egypt. Johanan, Azariah and the army commanders accuse him of lying and force the whole remnant, including the king's daughters, Jeremiah and Baruch, to cross the border.
