Explanation preview
After the fall of Jerusalem, Johanan and the army commanders refused Jeremiah's counsel and carried the surviving remnant of Judah, including the prophet and Baruch, down into Egypt against the LORD's command. Verse 8 marks a turning point: the word of the LORD comes to Jeremiah again, now at Tahpanhes, a frontier town in the eastern Nile Delta.
