Jeremiah 44:8 meaning and explanation
Why are you provoking Me to anger by the work of your hands by burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to reside? As a result, you will be cut off and will become an object of cursing and reproach among all the nations of the earth.
Jeremiah 44:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD speaks through Jeremiah to the Jews who fled to Egypt after Jerusalem fell, despite His command to stay in Judah. Their sin is not merely private: they are provoking God by the work of their hands, the idols and incense offered to other gods in the very land where they sought safety.
