Jeremiah 48:11 meaning and explanation
Moab has been at ease from youth, settled like wine on its dregs; he has not been poured from vessel to vessel or gone into exile. So his flavor has remained the same, and his aroma is unchanged.
Jeremiah 48:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD speaks through Jeremiah about Moab, Israel's neighbor east of the Dead Sea, pronouncing judgment on a nation grown comfortable and proud. The image comes from winemaking: wine left resting on its dregs, the sediment, was thought to keep its sweetness, while wine poured between jars was clarified and strengthened.
