Jeremiah 48:3 meaning and explanation

A voice cries out from Horonaim: ‘Devastation and great destruction!’

Jeremiah 48:3, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jeremiah 48 is a prophecy against Moab, a nation east of the Dead Sea descended from Lot. In verses 1 to 5 the destroyer moves through Moabite towns from north to south, and Horonaim, likely a town on a descent toward the valley, is named again in verse 5 as a place of bitter weeping.
