Jeremiah 49:33 meaning and explanation

“Hazor will become a haunt for jackals, a desolation forever. No one will dwell there; no man will abide there.”

Jeremiah 49:33, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

This verse closes the oracle against Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, delivered through Jeremiah when Babylon was pressing into the region. The Hazor named here is not the northern city of Joshua's day but desert settlements of Arab peoples who lived in tents without walls or gates, as verse 31 notes.
