Jeremiah 51:12 meaning and explanation
Raise a banner against the walls of Babylon; post the guard; station the watchmen; prepare the ambush. For the LORD has both devised and accomplished what He spoke against the people of Babylon.
Jeremiah 51:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD is speaking through Jeremiah in a prophetic oracle against Babylon, the empire that destroyed Jerusalem and the temple. The commands to raise a banner, post guards and prepare an ambush are ironic: Babylon's own defenses are being turned against her, as besieging armies gather.
