Jeremiah 9:20 meaning and explanation
Now, O women, hear the word of the LORD. Open your ears to the word of His mouth. Teach your daughters to wail, and one another to lament.
Jeremiah 9:20, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah has just called for professional mourning women to lead the nation in lament (verses 17 to 19), and here the LORD addresses the women of Judah directly. In a culture where women traditionally led funeral wailing, they are told to hear God's word and then pass the skill of lament on to their daughters and to one another.
