Job 31:11 meaning and explanation

For that would be a heinous crime, an iniquity to be judged.

Job 31:11, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Job is finishing a long oath of innocence, swearing before God that his life has matched his profession of faith. In verses 9 and 10 he has just named adultery with a neighbor's wife as the sin he has refused, and verse 11 gives the verdict on it: a heinous crime, literally an iniquity deserving the judgment of the courts.
