John 1:47 meaning and explanation
When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”
John 1:47, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus speaks these words as Nathanael comes toward him, brought by Philip despite Nathanael's doubt about Nazareth. Calling him "a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit" echoes the story of Jacob, the ancestor renamed Israel, whose life was marked by deception.
