John 10:36 meaning and explanation

then what about the One whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world? How then can you accuse Me of blasphemy for stating that I am the Son of God?

John 10:36, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jesus is answering opponents in the temple courts who have just accused him of blasphemy for claiming to be God (verse 33). He cites Psalm 82:6, where God calls human judges “gods,” and argues that if Scripture can use that word of mere recipients of God’s word, his own claim as the One the Father sanctified and sent is not blasphemy.
