Joshua 1:4 meaning and explanation
Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great River Euphrates—all the land of the Hittites—and west as far as the Great Sea.
Joshua 1:4, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God is speaking to Joshua, newly appointed after Moses' death, and defines the land Israel is to enter. The borders are ideal rather than immediately realized: the wilderness and Lebanon in the north, the Euphrates far to the northeast, the land of the Hittites, and the Great Sea (the Mediterranean) to the west.
