Explanation preview
Joshua 12 is a summary list of the kings Israel defeated, and verse 3 describes the southern and eastern extent of the territory taken from Sihon king of the Amorites. It traces his land from the Sea of Chinnereth, the freshwater lake later called the Sea of Galilee, down to the Sea of the Arabah, that is, the Salt Sea or Dead Sea, and along the eastern shore past Beth-jeshimoth to the slopes of Pisgah.
