Joshua 15:13 meaning and explanation
According to the LORD’s command to him, Joshua gave Caleb son of Jephunneh a portion among the sons of Judah—Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

Joshua is distributing the land among the tribes, and here he keeps a promise made decades earlier. Caleb, one of the two faithful spies sent from Kadesh-barnea, had been told by Moses that he would receive the land he had explored (Numbers 14:24).
