Joshua 7:21 meaning and explanation
When I saw among the spoils a beautiful cloak from Shinar, two hundred shekels of silver, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”
Joshua 7:21, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Achan is speaking to Joshua after being singled out by lot, confessing why Israel lost the battle at Ai. His words trace the path from seeing to taking: the cloak from Shinar, the silver, and the gold caught his eye, then he coveted (the Hebrew chamad, to desire or crave) and took them, hiding them under his tent.
