Leviticus 4:6 meaning and explanation

The priest is to dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil of the sanctuary.

Leviticus 4:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The LORD is instructing Moses about the sin offering for the anointed priest, whose failure brings guilt on the whole people. Because the priest stands closest to God, the blood is carried furthest inside: into the Tent of Meeting and sprinkled seven times before the LORD in front of the veil that screens the Most Holy Place.
