Luke has been describing Jesus' journey toward Jerusalem, and here he notes the setting for the healing that follows: a Sabbath gathering in one of the synagogues. Teaching was the normal activity of a visiting rabbi, and Luke often shows Jesus beginning his ministry in synagogues.
