Luke 19:36 meaning and explanation
As He rode along, the people spread their cloaks on the road.
Luke 19:36, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is riding the colt toward Jerusalem, and the crowd of disciples spreads their cloaks on the road ahead of him. In the ancient world, laying garments on the ground before a king was a way of honoring him and acknowledging his authority, much like the crowds who hailed Jehu in 2 Kings 9:13.
