Luke 6:42 meaning and explanation
How can you say, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while you yourself fail to see the beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Luke 6:42, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to His disciples in the Sermon on the Plain, continuing the image from verse 41. The “brother” is a fellow member of the community, and the “speck” is a tiny splinter of wood while the “beam” is a large plank or rafter.
