Mark 1:11 meaning and explanation
And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Mark 1:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
At Jesus's baptism in the Jordan, the heavens break open and the Spirit descends like a dove. The voice from heaven speaks directly to Jesus, not to the crowd, naming him "My beloved Son." The words echo Psalm 2, where the king is called God's son, and Isaiah 42, where the servant is chosen and delighted in.
