“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Mark 1:17, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is walking beside the Sea of Galilee at the start of his public ministry, and he speaks to Simon and Andrew, brothers working as fishermen. His call is an invitation to follow him personally, and the promise attached to it is that he will make them fishers of men, a picture drawn from their own trade.
