Mark 15:22 meaning and explanation
They brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha, which means The Place of the Skull.
Mark 15:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Mark has just described the soldiers leading Jesus out to be crucified, with Simon of Cyrene forced to carry the cross. Golgotha is the Aramaic name of the execution site outside Jerusalem, and Mark translates it for his readers as "The Place of the Skull," probably because the rocky rise resembled a skull.
