If a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand.

Jesus is answering scribes from Jerusalem who claim He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons. In verses 23 to 26 He uses short parables to expose the absurdity of their charge: if Satan's own house were split, it would collapse.
