Mark 7:35 meaning and explanation
Immediately the man’s ears were opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak plainly.
Mark 7:35, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus has just healed a deaf man with a speech impediment in the Decapolis, a largely Gentile region. After taking him aside privately, Jesus puts His fingers in the man's ears, spits, touches his tongue, looks to heaven and sighs, then says "Ephphatha," an Aramaic word Mark translates as "Be opened." This verse records the immediate result: the ears open, the tongue is released, and the man speaks plainly.
