Matthew 10:16 meaning and explanation
Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
Matthew 10:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to the twelve he is sending out on a mission to Israel (verses 5 and 6), and he has just warned them that rejection will bring judgment (verse 15). The image is stark: sheep have no defense, and wolves do not negotiate.
