Matthew 2:20 meaning and explanation
“Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, for those seeking the Child’s life are now dead.”
Matthew 2:20, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
After Herod the Great died, an angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream in Egypt, where the family has lived as refugees. The command to get up and return echoes the earlier warning to flee, and the phrase about those seeking the Child's life being dead recalls Moses, whose return to Egypt was safe once the Pharaoh who sought his life had died (Exodus 4:19).
