Matthew 27:11 meaning and explanation
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, who questioned Him: “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
Matthew 27:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Pilate, the Roman governor, questions Jesus privately in the praetorium while the chief priests and elders press their accusations outside. The charge is political: "King of the Jews" was a title Rome reserved for its own appointed ruler, so a yes could mean a death sentence.
