Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Jesus is answering followers of John the Baptist, who asked why His disciples did not fast while they and the Pharisees did. He has just compared His presence to a wedding feast and warned that a patch of unshrunk cloth would tear an old garment.
