Numbers 4:28 meaning and explanation
This is the service of the Gershonite clans at the Tent of Meeting, and their duties shall be under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.

The LORD has just assigned the Gershonites their share of the tabernacle work: carrying the curtains, coverings, courtyard hangings and ropes. This verse places that labor under Ithamar, Aaron's youngest surviving son, so that a priest directs the transport rather than each clan deciding for itself.
