Paul writes to the Philippian church from prison, quoting what many take to be an early Christian hymn in verses 6 to 11. Verse 11 completes its arc: the one who humbled himself to death on a cross is now exalted, and the confession of every tongue answers the bowing of every knee in verse 10.
