Proverbs 6:24 meaning and explanation
to keep you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
Proverbs 6:24, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In Proverbs 6 a father is teaching his son, and verses 23 and 24 explain what the parents' commandment is for: it is a lamp and a light that keeps him from the evil woman, the BSB's term for a woman who draws a man into sexual sin. The Hebrew word rendered smooth suggests flattering, slippery speech, so the danger is seductive words as much as beauty.
