Explanation preview
The psalmist has just come through a life threatening illness or crisis and now speaks in the temple courts before the gathered people. Having described God as the one who delivered his soul from death and his eyes from tears, he affirms that the death of God's faithful ones, his saints or holy ones, is precious, meaning costly and deeply valued, in the Lord's sight.
