Psalms 116:16 meaning and explanation

Truly, O LORD, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.

Psalms 116:16, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The psalmist, having been rescued from a near fatal illness, now speaks directly to God in grateful commitment. Repeating “I am Your servant” twice stresses that his life belongs wholly to the LORD, and “the son of Your maidservant” places him within a household of faith from birth, a child of a woman who herself served God.
