Turn my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetous gain.

Psalms 119:36, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Psalm 119 is a long acrostic poem in which a worshiper in distress repeatedly asks God to teach him and give him life. In this section, beginning at verse 33, the speaker asks God to do what he cannot do alone: to turn his heart toward God's testimonies, the covenant commands he has been meditating on, and away from covetous gain, that is, profit gained unjustly.
