Psalms 141:5 meaning and explanation
Let the righteous man strike me; let his rebuke be an act of loving devotion. It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked.
Psalms 141:5, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
David is speaking, aware of the influence of the wicked around him (verses 3 and 4), and here he welcomes correction from the righteous rather than the flattery of evildoers. He calls such a rebuke chesed, the Hebrew word for steadfast love or covenant kindness, and compares it to oil on the head, a sign of honor and welcome.
