Psalms 80:3 meaning and explanation
Restore us, O God, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
Psalms 80:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This is the refrain of a lament by Asaph, a temple singer, prayed on behalf of the northern tribes named in verse 2 after their defeat and exile. The people ask God to restore them and to make his face shine on them, an image drawn from the priestly blessing of Numbers 6:24 to 26, where God's shining face means his favor, presence and peace.
