Psalms 81:14 meaning and explanation
how soon I would subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes!
Psalms 81:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Psalm 81 is a festival song of Asaph, and in verses 8 to 16 God himself speaks, recalling the exodus and pleading with Israel to listen. Verse 14 comes inside a conditional sentence: "If only My people would listen to Me" (verse 13), then "how soon I would subdue their enemies." The Hebrew verb for "subdue" carries the sense of bringing an enemy down underfoot.
