Revelation 19:3 meaning and explanation

And a second time they called out: “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises forever and ever.”

Revelation 19:3, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The great multitude in heaven has just praised God for judging the great prostitute, Babylon, the symbol of a corrupt world system that shed the blood of God's people. Now their praise sounds a second time, and the smoke rising forever echoes the Old Testament image of a ruined city whose destruction never ends, as in Isaiah 34.
