Ruth 1:19, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Naomi and Ruth arrive in Bethlehem after about ten years in Moab, where Naomi lost her husband and both sons. The narrator says the whole town was stirred at their arrival, and the women exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?” The Hebrew verb for stirred suggests commotion or excitement, the same word used elsewhere for a city in an uproar.
