Ruth 4:13 meaning and explanation

So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And when he had relations with her, the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.

Ruth 4:13, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Boaz has just settled the legal matter at the city gate, and the nearer kinsman has declined to redeem, so Boaz publicly takes Ruth as his wife. The narrator credits her conception to the LORD, the same wording used of other births in Scripture where God is shown to be the giver of life.
