2 Chronicles 36:7, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The Chronicler narrates the first deportation under Nebuchadnezzar, when Judah's king was bound and the sacred vessels of the temple were carried to Babylon and placed in the temple of his god. In the ancient world, a conquered people's gods were thought to be defeated with them, so the exile of the vessels looked like the LORD's own defeat.
