Daniel 8:12 meaning and explanation

And in the rebellion, the host and the daily sacrifice were given over to the horn, and it flung truth to the ground and prospered in whatever it did.

Daniel 8:12, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Daniel has already been told by Gabriel that the two-horned ram is Media and Persia and the goat is Greece, and that an insolent king will rise from one of the four horns. In verse 12 the rebellion, a word for transgression or apostasy, becomes the means by which the host and the daily sacrifice are handed over to the little horn.
