Deuteronomy 16:7 meaning and explanation

And you shall roast it and eat it in the place the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you shall return to your tents.

Deuteronomy 16:7, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Moses is speaking to the Israelites on the plains of Moab, preparing them to enter the land, and here he sets out the Passover rules for a people no longer wandering but settled in towns. The sacrifice must be eaten at the single sanctuary the LORD will choose, not at home, and the worshiper returns to his tent the next morning.
