Exodus 40 closes the book with the tabernacle finally raised on the first day of the first month of the second year after the exodus. God had given Moses detailed instructions on Sinai, and here Moses personally carries them out, laying the silver bases, standing the gold-covered frames upright, threading the crossbars through them and setting the posts in place.
