Galatians 4:7 meaning and explanation

So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.

Galatians 4:7, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul writes to Gentile believers in Galatia who were being pressured to take up circumcision and the law as the basis of their standing with God. In verses 1 to 6 he has argued that an heir, though he owns everything, is treated like a slave while still a child, and that God sent His Son to redeem those under the law so that they might receive adoption.
