Genesis 2:19 meaning and explanation
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
Genesis 2:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God has just said it is not good for the man to be alone, and now He forms the animals and birds from the ground, as He formed the man, and brings them to him. Naming here means recognizing and ordering what God has made, and God gives the man real authority in it.
