Isaiah 42:22 meaning and explanation
But this is a people plundered and looted, all trapped in caves or imprisoned in dungeons. They have become plunder with no one to rescue them, and loot with no one to say, “Send them back!”
Isaiah 42:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The speaker is the LORD, continuing the lament begun in verse 18 over His servant Israel. Having described His desire to magnify His law (verse 21), He now pictures the nation as it actually is: plundered and looted, hiding in caves and dungeons, with no one to rescue them and no one willing to demand their return.
