Jeremiah 23:6 meaning and explanation

In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.

Jeremiah 23:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jeremiah speaks these words in Jerusalem before the exile, in a chapter that indicts the leaders and prophets who scattered God's people. Verses 5 and 6 answer that failure with a promise: God himself will raise up a righteous Branch from David's line, a king who rules wisely and brings justice.
