Joshua 21:3 meaning and explanation
So by the command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites these cities and their pasturelands out of their own inheritance:

The Levites had no tribal territory of their own. God had set them apart to serve the tabernacle, and through Moses he commanded that they receive cities to live in with pastureland for their livestock (Numbers 35).
